The supplied source material groups vendor terminology into four uses as of 2026-10-28. These are editorial categories for this guide.
Notion[1] and Kollab[2] use AI workspace for a shared place to work with AI. Slack's vendor post, published August 27, 2026, applies the term to Slackbot Big Mode[3]. Slack's main product page calls the platform a work operating system[4].
OpenAI describes ChatGPT Business[5] as a team plan with its own membership and settings. Anthropic's agent teams documentation[6] describes several Claude Code sessions working together.
This guide compares the documented capabilities and billing structures behind those labels. Its facts come from the supplied source pack dated 2026-10-28. It does not report hands-on product tests.

How an AI Workspace Differs from Chat Assistants, Coding Agents, and Scheduled Workflows
A chat assistant responds within a conversation thread. ChatGPT Projects[7] organize related chats, files, and instructions. Claude Projects[8] have their own chat histories and knowledge bases. Cowork projects[9] group tasks with files, instructions, and memory. Cowork projects are saved to the Claude account. Local folders and files stay on the computer.
Claude Code agent teams[6] coordinate coding sessions. The feature is experimental and off by default. Enable it with CLAUDE_CODE_EXPERIMENTAL_AGENT_TEAMS=1. A lead session coordinates separate Claude Code instances. Each teammate has its own context window and can message other teammates. Subagents report back within a single session. Agent teams use significantly more tokens than a single session. Claude does not spawn teammates in non-interactive -p mode, including Agent SDK sessions.
Scheduling is a separate capability. Notion Custom Agents[10] can run from a trigger or schedule while their creator is offline. Slackbot[3] has a Tasks tab for scheduled work. Claude Cowork[11] schedules run remotely on paid plans unless they need local files or apps. ChatGPT Business and Enterprise[12] support cloud team tasks with schedules or supported triggers. Kollab[2] documents scheduled workflows across connected apps.
How Major Products Use the Term "AI Workspace"
The following descriptions follow the source pack's 2026-10-28 collection:
Notion: Its homepage[1] uses AI workspace as its product framing. Notion AI[10] works across pages, docs, tasks, and databases. The pricing page[14] displayed Free at $0, Plus at $10, and Business at $20 per seat/month. Enterprise requires sales contact. Notion AI FAQs[13] place AI on Business and Enterprise. Free and Plus receive a limited AI trial.
Slack: Its Work OS FAQ[4] describes a platform combining people, apps, data, and AI. Slack integrates with over 2,600 business tools. Slackbot uses workspace context as a personal agent. The team at Slack's August 27, 2026 post[3] describes Big Mode as a full-screen workspace for research, writing, analysis, and file generation.
Microsoft Copilot: Microsoft's product page[15] positions Copilot as AI for work. Work IQ grounds responses in company and project context. Copilot appears in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Teams. Auto selects a model and effort level based on accuracy, speed, and cost. Home view is in Microsoft Frontier. Cloud-hosted Autopilot is in Private Preview. The pricing page[16] displayed Business Standard with Copilot at $23.50/user/month paid yearly. Business Premium with Copilot was $32.00/user/month paid yearly. A separate card showed a starting price of $18.00/user/month paid yearly, against an original starting price of $21.00. These USD subscriptions auto-renew. Select advanced AI features carry usage-based billing.
Google Workspace with Gemini: Google's AI page[17] describes Gemini within the Workspace suite. Named surfaces include Gmail, Docs, Sheets, Slides, Drive, Meet, Gemini Notebook, Studio, and Vids. Studio flows are named on the page. That label does not establish unattended scheduling. Pricing[18] is per user with pooled storage. Its data-training note applies to chat with Gemini.
Claude Projects, Cowork, and Team: Claude Projects[8] organize chat histories and knowledge bases. Free accounts can create up to five projects. A staged beta starting with Claude Code adds parallel cloud threads. That beta is not established as available to every user. Claude Team pricing[19] covers 2–150 people. Standard seats cost $20/seat/month billed annually or $25/seat/month billed monthly. Premium seats cost $100/seat/month billed annually or $125/seat/month billed monthly. Premium lists 5x more usage than Standard. Team lists up to $500/month in pooled API credits. These are API credits, separate from included chat usage. Prices exclude tax.
ChatGPT Projects and Business: The Business FAQ[5] describes a self-serve team workspace plan. It was renamed from ChatGPT Team on August 29, 2025. Standard seats cost $20/user/month billed annually or $25/user/month billed monthly. Premium seats cost $100/user/month billed annually or $125/user/month billed monthly. These USD prices can vary by country. Business requires at least two paid seats. The August 24, 2026 rule caps subscriptions at 200 paid Standard and Premium seats, with an exception for older workspaces. OpenAI states that Business workspace data is not used for training. API use is billed separately. ChatGPT Projects[7] hold related chats, files, and instructions. Business, Enterprise, and Edu projects support up to 40 files. A workspace project can include up to 100 collaborators.
Kollab: Its documentation[20] describes a shared AI workspace for work requiring context, tools, files, and follow-up. Its product page[2] also uses AI agent workspace. Every plan[21] has unlimited team seats sharing one credit balance.
Five Core Capability Dimensions of a Team AI Workspace
Five dimensions help organize the comparison:
Shared context. Notion Agent[13] uses workspace pages, databases, and enabled connected apps. Shared ChatGPT projects[7] use project-only memory. They cannot read members' outside personal memories. Kollab tasks[20] hold conversations, files, and follow-up. Kollab projects provide reusable context.
Models and media. Notion AI[10] supports switching model or provider while retaining context. Image generation[13] is available on Business and Enterprise with an admin switch. ChatGPT Projects[7] name image and voice tools. Kollab[2] names chat, image, video, and voice models on one balance. Its CLI page[23] also documents 3D .glb generation.
App connectors. Notion[13] names Slack and Google Drive. The ChatGPT task material[12] names Gmail, Slack, and GitHub. The apps article[24] was partly reviewed in the collection. Kollab[2] claims 1,000+ apps. Its named examples include Gmail, Notion, Slack, Instagram, Search Console, Google Ads, Shopify, and HubSpot. Kollab docs[20] add GitHub, Figma, and Linear.
Scheduled execution. Section 1 identifies five products with documented scheduling. Claude Cowork[11] lists hourly, daily, weekly, weekdays, and manual options on paid plans. Tasks needing local files or apps run locally.
Seats and usage pools. Notion AI[10] gives each Business and Enterprise member 1,500 Standard and 500 Select credits per month. Extra usage can draw on workspace Notion credits when an admin enables it. Notion workspace owners[13] can set member Notion-credit spending amounts. Notion pricing[14] lists Custom Agents as free to try, then $10 per 1,000 monthly Notion credits. Kollab[21] uses unlimited seats with one workspace balance.

Verified Facts About the Kollab Workspace
The following are public-page claims recorded in the source pack. They were not tested in a live workspace.
Seats and administration: Every plan[21] includes unlimited team seats sharing one balance. Team admin and roles are included on Free, Pro, and Max. Members[2] sign in with their own accounts. Projects and finished work stay together.
Plans and credit packs: Free[21] costs $0 and refreshes 600 credits every 3 days. Grants are capped at 2,000 credits per month. Free credits do not roll over. Pro includes 6,000 subscription credits/month at $20/month. Max includes 80,000 subscription credits/month at $200/month. The product page[2] prints annual totals of $216 for Pro and $2,160 for Max. One-time packs[21] offer 1,500 credits for $5, 3,000 for $10, or 15,000 for $50. Packs are shared across the workspace.
Models and media: The product page[2] names GPT-6.1 Sol, Gemini 3.8 Flash, Grok 4.7, and DeepSeek V4.1 Flash for chat. It names GPT Image 2 for images. Seedance 2 and Veo 3 are listed for video. Grok voice is listed for voice. The CLI page[23] instead prints GPT Image 2.5 alongside Google Nano Banana for images. It also names Kling for video, Doubao for voice, and Supadata for transcription. Tripo3D produces .glb files through the CLI.
Approximate usage examples: Kollab pricing[21] gives about 27 credits for a typical GPT Image 2 image. A six-second 720p Seedance 2 example uses 363 credits. A six-second Veo 3 example uses 1,200 credits. These are estimates. Actual image usage varies with size, quality, and tokens. Video usage varies with duration, size, and provider usage.
Schedules and connectors: The product page[2] describes agents working across 1,000+ apps on a schedule. Examples include posts and short videos for X, Instagram, and TikTok. Another example builds a morning report from Search Console, Google Ads, and Analytics for Slack. The connector names in Section 3 come from that page and the docs[20].
CLI and Agent Skill: The CLI page[23] documents tasks running in the Kollab cloud. It prints npm i -g kollab for CLI installation. It prints npx skills add KollabTeam/Kollab@kollab-cli for the Agent Skill. Users do not supply provider API keys for these configured services. The source pack does not establish reuse of personal ChatGPT, Claude, or Cursor subscriptions.
How to Choose the Right AI Workspace in Four Steps
Use these four steps to evaluate the documented differences:
- 1
Check billing structure
Notion[14], Microsoft[16], Google Workspace[18], Claude Team[19], and ChatGPT Business[5] publish per-user or per-seat terms. Kollab[21] lists unlimited seats with shared credits. These structures do not establish which product costs less for your usage.
- 2
Check execution conditions
Five products in Section 1 document scheduling. Read the applicable plan and runtime restrictions. Claude Cowork[11] tasks that need local files or apps run locally. A cloud schedule does not establish access to a sleeping computer's local folder.
- 3
Check required apps and models
Use the named connectors in Section 3 as a starting list. Full catalogs were not inventoried. Notion[10] supports model switching. Microsoft[15] describes automatic model selection. Kollab[2] names models from several vendors on one balance. These claims describe different controls.
- 4
Clarify what agent teams means
Claude Code agent teams[6] coordinates coding sessions. Claude Team[19] is a subscription plan. Evaluate a shared workspace against its context and workflow features separately.
