How Many Tokens in Claude Pro? Usage Limits Explained

Short answer

Anthropic does not publish a fixed Claude Pro token quota or message count. Pro has a five-hour session limit and a weekly limit. Claude apps and subscription-based Claude Code share those limits (What is the Pro plan?[2]).

How many tokens are in Claude Pro? The official pages describe session windows, weekly resets, and plan multiples. They provide no token total (Claude pricing[1]).

A context window measures how much one conversation can hold. Usage limits measure how much work you can do across conversations before a reset (How do usage and length limits work?[5]).

This guide compares 11 plan rows across Claude and ChatGPT. It gives four steps for observing your workload and explains Kollab's shared workspace credits.

How Does Anthropic Describe Claude Pro, Max, and Team Usage Limits?

The Pro and Max help articles say the session limit resets every five hours. They describe a weekly limit across models with a fixed account reset time (Pro help[2], Max help[3]).

The pricing FAQ describes a rolling five-hour window. It also names weekly limits for paid plans (Claude pricing[1]).

Pro: $20 when billed monthly. The pricing card displays $17 per month for annual billing with $200 charged up front. Pro provides at least 5x Free's usage per five-hour session (Claude pricing[1]).

Max: $100 per month for 5x Pro's per-session allowance or $200 for 20x. Both tiers are billed monthly (What is the Max plan?[3]).

Team: 2 to 150 seats. Standard costs $25 per member per month with monthly billing or $20 with annual billing. Premium costs $125 monthly or $100 with annual billing. The help article gives Standard 1.25x Pro's per-session allowance and Premium 6.25x (What is the Team plan?[7]).

The pricing FAQ describes Team Standard as providing more usage than Pro. It describes Premium as 5x Standard. These relative descriptions do not establish a token quota (Claude pricing[1]).

Each Team seat belongs to a named individual. Unused seat limits cannot be shared or transferred (What is the Team plan?[7]).

Paid chat models support context windows of up to 1M tokens. Other models have 500K or 200K windows. These are conversation-length figures. Longer conversations that trigger automatic summarization consume more plan usage (How large is the context window on paid Claude plans?[4]).

On Max, Team Premium, and legacy seat-based Enterprise Premium, Fable can consume up to 50% of the regular weekly allowance. Fable consumes that allowance faster. It adds no extra weekly capacity. Pro and Team Standard require pay-as-you-go usage credits for Fable from the start (Claude Fable models on your plan[8]).

How Are Claude Code Limits Counted Across Plans?

On Pro and Max, Claude Code shares the subscription limits used by Claude apps. Claude Code inside supported IDEs counts toward the same pool (Use Claude Code with your Pro or Max plan[9]).

Claude Code is included with each Team seat. Usage-based Enterprise, including self-serve, is billed by consumption at API rates without per-seat usage limits (Use Claude Code with your Team or Enterprise plan[10]).

Authentication determines the billing path. Claude account sign-in uses the applicable plan allowance. An API key or a supported cloud-provider connection uses per-token billing. Model choice affects how quickly an included allowance is consumed (Models, usage, and limits in Claude Code[11]).

Three rules matter near a limit.

Historical promotion: A September 14, 2026 promotion note describes Claude Code weekly limits as 25% above the pre-promotion level for Pro, Max, Team, and legacy seat-based Enterprise. The current shared-pool article and pricing FAQ do not repeat that figure. The baseline is unpublished. Do not add 25% to a guessed allowance (Claude Code May–August 2026 weekly limits promotion[12]).

Wrap-Up Allowance: Eligible accounts using Claude Code 2.1.277 or later may receive a small allowance to finish an in-progress response when the five-hour limit is reached. It counts toward the weekly limit. Pro can receive it up to once per weekly period. Max and Team Premium can receive it at five-hour limits within the weekly allowance. Eligibility includes Claude-account authentication, account age, and gradual rollout. It is not guaranteed (Claude Code Wrap-Up Allowance[13]).

Two kinds of credits: Paid-plan usage credits can continue work at standard API rates after included limits. They do not change reset timing (Manage usage credits for paid Claude plans[14]). Monthly API credits are separate: Max 5x receives $100, Max 20x $200, Team Standard $20 per seat, and Team Premium $100 per seat. Team credits are pooled with a $500 monthly cap. These credits cannot fund interactive Claude Code, Claude apps, or usage-credit spending (Monthly API credits for Max and Team plans[15]).

What Users Report About Hitting Weekly Limits

The four posts below describe individual experiences. They do not establish a general limit or a benchmark.

ChatGPT Business Standard / PremiumSeat dollar price unverified[22]Standard: 15 Pro messages/month. Premium: 50 Pro messages/week. Each is shared across GPT-6 Pro and GPT-5.6 Sol Pro. Premium has 5x Standard's included Work/Codex usage without a five-hour limit (ChatGPT Business models and limits[22]).Other chat and Work/Codex allowances are not one published total.[22]

Work and Codex share a plan allowance. Pro 100, 200, and 500 currently have no five-hour Work/Codex limit. An included allowance still applies (Managing usage with GPT-6 Astra in Work and Codex[21]). The Astra help article estimates 15–160 GPT-6.1 Sol local messages per five-hour window for Plus and Standard Business. The Business article groups GPT-6.1 Sol and GPT-6 Sol at 15–150 for Standard seats. These are estimates. Keep their source-specific ranges separate (Astra usage[21], Business limits[22]).

How to Observe Your Workload Using Official Meters

Use these four steps to observe a weekly cycle. The readings do not yield a monthly token quota.

  1. 1

    Read Settings > Usage

Claude shows session and weekly usage with the next weekly reset time (What is the Pro plan?[2]). Warnings distinguish approaching session and weekly limits (Troubleshoot Claude error messages[25]). For ChatGPT Work and Codex, use Settings > Usage. Where a five-hour window applies, it starts with the first message after the previous window ends (Managing usage with GPT-6 Astra in Work and Codex[21]).

  2. 2

Read Claude Code's plan bars with /usage

For Pro and Max, the Session dollar figure is intended for API users. It does not establish subscription billing or a token quota (Claude Code costs[26]).

  3. 3

    Record one normal weekly cycle

Note the share of your weekly bar consumed by your usual work. Claude's reset time is fixed for the account (What is the Pro plan?[2]). Treat the observations as specific to your workload.

  4. 4

    Compare the applicable limits

Published Max and Team multiples describe per-session allowances. They do not establish the same multiple for weekly usage (Max help[3], Team help[7]). At a limit, the official options include waiting, upgrading, or enabling usage credits at API rates (Claude pricing[1]).

How Kollab Meters a Shared Workspace With Credits

Kollab uses a shared AI workspace for team work with context, tools, files, and follow-up (What is Kollab?[27]).

Every plan includes unlimited team seats with one shared credit balance. Members use their own sign-ins. Projects, finished work, and credits live together (Kollab product[28]).

The public pricing page lists these three plans (Kollab pricing[6]).

Starter (Free): 600 refresh credits every 3 days. Free credits do not roll over. Monthly grants are capped at 2,000.

Pro ($20/month): 6,000 subscription credits per month plus the three-day refresh.

Max ($200/month): 80,000 subscription credits per month plus the three-day refresh.

Team administration and roles are included on all three plans. Subscription credits reset each billing period. Top-up credits remain until spent. Packs cost $5 for 1,500 credits, $10 for 3,000, or $50 for 15,000 (Kollab pricing[6]).

Messages, images, videos, and automated tasks draw from the same balance. Heavier models and longer runs consume more credits. The website's workload examples are estimates rather than guaranteed output (Kollab pricing[6]).

The CLI connects to your Kollab workspace without requiring you to supply API keys (Kollab CLI[29]).
