Start with what you want ready each morning. Existing product photos need captions and a publishing schedule. A fresh graphic or short video also needs a generation step. Buffer offers caption writing and rewriting.[3] Publer's AI tools cover text and images.[4]
You can assemble the workflow from a trigger, content tools and a publisher. Make and n8n both support scheduled runs.[5][6] Another route is to describe the recurring task in Kollab, which plans the steps, selects models and apps, and runs it on schedule.[2] Product documentation was checked on October 26, 2026.
What needs to happen before a daily post goes live?
Prepare captions and usable media files. Buffer's AI page describes text assistance, including captions and channel-specific rewrites.[3] Metricool's AI page also focuses on text.[7] Publer's describes text and images.[4] None of these three AI pages describes video generation. For a short video, supply a finished clip or choose a service with documented video generation.
Then send the content to a publisher. Metricool's MCP workflow accepts accessible media and creates a separate scheduled post for each selected network. It returns planner links so you can inspect the posts.[8] A recurring trigger starts content preparation each day.
Which tools handle which part?
| Comparison | Documented role in the daily workflow | What still needs attention | Official source |
|---|---|---|---|
| Buffer | AI captions and rewriting[3]; scheduling and publishing; API and MCP handoffs from assistants or automation tools.[9][10] | Supply finished media.[3] Instagram automatic publishing depends on account and format eligibility; some posts use notifications.[11] | [3][9][10][11] |
| Metricool | AI text assistance[7]; an assistant can schedule separate posts and captions through MCP.[8] | Supply accessible media.[8] Free allows up to 20 posts per month and excludes X; X requires Starter or higher with an add-on.[12] | [7][8][12] |
| Publer | AI text and images with free trial credits, then as part of Business[4]; Schedule, AutoSchedule, Recycle and Recurring modes[13]; API/MCP on Business.[14] | Supply finished video.[4] Free excludes X and allows 10 scheduled posts per account; account and post-type restrictions still apply.[14] | [4][13][14] |
| Zapier | A daily trigger can feed Buffer's Add to Queue action.[1] | Configure the writing/media actions and connect the destination account. The trigger does not create the assets.[1] | [1] |
| Make | Runs a configured scenario on a daily schedule.[5] Buffer lists Make among its integration options.[9] | Configure the generation services and publishing handoff for that scenario.[5] | [5][9] |
| n8n | Schedule Trigger runs a workflow at fixed times.[6] Buffer lists n8n among its integration options.[9] | Set the timezone, save and publish the workflow, and configure its generation and publishing actions.[6] | [6][9] |
Choose the tools around the content you need to create and the accounts you want to publish to. Buffer[10], Metricool[8] and Publer[14] each document assistant-driven scheduling. Compare the content and publishing steps each one covers.
What can prevent automatic Instagram publishing?
For automatic Instagram publishing through Buffer, use an eligible Business or Creator account. Personal accounts use notification publishing, where a person completes the final step. Features such as music or story stickers can also require a notification. Buffer lists Reel limits of 5 seconds to 15 minutes, a maximum file size of 300MB and aspect ratios from 4:5 to 9:16.[11] Publer also lists Instagram Business and Creator accounts.[14]
Check X separately. Metricool's MCP publishes an X post as a single post and does not split it into a thread. Standard accounts have a 280-character limit; X Premium accounts can use longer posts. Content that exceeds the account's limit returns an error and needs shortening. The same guide requires a video for an Instagram Reel. Media links must open the file itself; webpage links fail.[8]
Before you start
This is a suggested configuration. Choose the start time around your publishing schedule.
How do you set up an agent to work each morning?
- 1
Connect the accounts and set the trigger
Choose a daily start time and confirm the timezone. Schedule by Zapier includes a weekend setting.[1] Make lets you add multiple times to a Daily schedule.[5] n8n uses the workflow timezone, falling back to the instance timezone; save and publish the workflow to activate it.[6] Check the publisher's account and plan requirements before enabling the trigger.
- 2
Prepare the day's content
Supply approved product facts, photos and tone instructions. Ask the writing tool for a caption per channel. Choose an image-generation service for a new graphic. Choose a video-generation service for a new clip. Wait for usable media files before passing them onward. Buffer documents caption assistance.[3] Publer documents image generation.[4] Kollab's product page includes short-video workflows.[2]
- 3
Review and queue the posts
Check claims and media before sending them to the publisher. Buffer's MCP route places posts in its queue; Metricool returns planner links for separate network posts. Confirm the intended account, time and file on each record. Keep a review step while you check the routine.[10][8]
- 4
Verify publication and handle failures
Inspect the result on each destination after the scheduled time. Keep the post reference and investigate errors before sending the same content again. Publer's API documentation illustrates the distinction between submitting a request, waiting for processing and handling its results or errors.[15]
Notes
Publer lists Recurring as one of four scheduling modes, configured from a composed post. Run the generation step daily if you want a different graphic, clip or caption each morning.[13]
Where does Kollab fit?
Describe a recurring task in a Kollab workspace. Kollab plans the steps, picks models and apps, and runs the task on schedule. Its product page states, “Run fully automated workflows on schedule.”[2]
The product page's cross-channel example runs three times a day. It creates posts and short videos around your topics, then publishes to X, Instagram and TikTok. Another example runs daily at 08:00. It finds news, writes a script, creates visuals and video, then publishes.[2]
Kollab lists GPT Image 2 for images and Seedance 2 and Veo 3 for video. These models share a credit balance in the same account. Authorize the apps the task needs so the AI can work inside them.[2]
What should you check before leaving it unattended?
Check a scheduled record and a live result for each channel. For X, Metricool requires Starter or higher with the X add-on. Its Free plan allows up to 20 posts per month, which a daily post on one channel would exceed.[12] Publer's Free plan excludes X and allows 10 scheduled posts per account.[14]
Set your image and clip settings before planning daily volume. Kollab meters messages, images, videos and automated tasks against a shared workspace credit balance. Media costs vary with settings and usage. Its published output examples are estimates.[16]
