Kollab Browser Extension Privacy Notice
Learn what the Kollab browser extension handles when you save page content or authorize an AI browser task.
This notice explains how the Kollab browser extension handles information. It supplements the Kollab Privacy Policy and applies specifically to Save to Kollab and My Browser.
When the extension handles data
The extension does not transmit page content merely because a page is open. It handles page data only when you take one of these actions:
- You choose Save to Kollab from the toolbar or right-click menu to save a page, selected text, or image.
- You explicitly connect and authorize My Browser for a Kollab task. Data transfer stops when that browser task ends or you disconnect it.
Information handled
Depending on the feature you use, the extension may handle:
- Authentication information: a Kollab session token or Kollab-domain session cookie used to connect the extension to your account. The extension does not read cookies from unrelated websites.
- Saved content: the URL and title of the page you save, selected or visible page text, and images you explicitly save.
- Authorized browser-task data: page URLs and titles, visible page content, interactive element labels and non-sensitive values, screenshots, requested browser actions, and action results.
- Local extension state: a random extension client identifier, selected workspace and project, locale and connection preferences, and limited diagnostic or action logs.
Password, payment-card, security-code, and one-time-code field values are excluded from structured element extraction. Screenshots can still contain information visible on the page, so review the page before authorizing a browser task.
How the information is used
We use extension data only to:
- authenticate your Kollab connection;
- save the content you selected to the workspace and project you chose;
- execute and return the browser task you explicitly authorized;
- keep the task safe, show its status, diagnose failures, and maintain service reliability.
All executable JavaScript and WebAssembly are packaged with the extension. Server messages contain task data and browser-action instructions, not remotely hosted executable code.
Sharing and limited use
Extension data may be processed by Kollab infrastructure and service providers that support hosting, storage, security, and AI inference, only as needed to provide the feature you requested. It may also be visible to workspace members according to the permissions and sharing settings you selected.
We do not sell extension data, use it for personalized advertising, or use it to make lending or credit decisions. Humans do not read this data except with your specific consent for support, when necessary for security or legal compliance, or in aggregated and anonymized form for internal operations.
Kollab's use of information received through the extension complies with the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including its Limited Use requirements.
Storage, retention, and deletion
The extension stores its authentication token, client identifier, selected destination, preferences, and limited logs in browser extension storage. Disconnecting My Browser stops its server connection but retains this local state so Save to Kollab and later reconnection continue to work. Clear extension data or uninstall the extension to remove the local state, subject to browser behavior.
Content saved to a Kollab project remains there until an authorized user deletes it. Browser-task records and operational logs are retained only as needed to provide, secure, and troubleshoot the service and to meet legal obligations. You can delete content you control in Kollab or contact team@kollab.im for a privacy request.
Security and contact
The extension transmits data to Kollab using HTTPS or WSS and uses browser permission boundaries and Kollab access controls to limit access. No online service can guarantee absolute security.
Questions about this notice can be sent to team@kollab.im.
